𝙊𝙣 𝙤𝙪𝙧 7 𝙙𝙖𝙮 𝙩𝙧𝙞𝙥 𝙖𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙘𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙩𝙧𝙮 𝙬𝙚 𝙨𝙤𝙖𝙠𝙚𝙙 𝙞𝙣 4 𝙙𝙞𝙛𝙛𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙥𝙤𝙤𝙡𝙨 𝙗𝙪𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙏𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙢𝙖𝙡 𝙃𝙤𝙩 𝙎𝙥𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙨 𝙖𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙍𝙞𝙤 𝙉𝙚𝙜𝙧𝙤 𝙖𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙍𝙞𝙣𝙘𝙤𝙣 𝘿𝙚 𝙇𝙖 𝙑𝙞𝙚𝙟𝙖 𝙑𝙤𝒍𝙘𝙖𝙣𝙤 𝙤𝙛𝙛𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙈𝙐𝘿 𝘽𝘼𝙏𝙃𝙎! ⁣ ⁣ Rincón de La Vieja Volcano 🌋 is the largest and most active volcano in Guanacaste, Costa Rica.⁣ ⁣ We stayed at Hotel Hacienda Guachipelin which gives access to the Rio Negro’s 10 thermal mineral rich pools on the riverbank, heated by the volcano. You take a short hike to the river and walk across suspension bridges to get in and out. ⁣ ⁣ @thefitmarquee and I had a blast painting the volcanic mud on your bodies, rinsing off in the cold river, then soaking in the natural hot spring pools. I noticed how soft my skin was afterward!⁣ ⁣ We loved the mud so much that we got volcanic mud massages the next morning. Mineral Mud is my new love! ⁣ ⁣ 𝙃𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙩𝙖𝙠𝙚𝙣 𝙖 𝙢𝙪𝙙 𝙗𝙖𝙩𝙝? The Leaning Tower of Pisa I was trying to get to Pisa before we lost daylight for pictures. It didn’t happen, but it wasn’t a total fail! 🌺 When freestyle traveling, it’s easy to go off the beaten path. In this case I was traveling from Milan, Italy and the first city I “planned” to visit in Tuscany was Pisa. That didn’t happen. I’ll tell the story of my favorite accidental stop in Tuscany in a later post, but I didn’t plan to arrive to this tourist attraction so late. However I like my how the photo of the leaning tower of Pisa came out at dusk! 🌺 🌺 The entire Piazza del Duomo is lit up at night and it’s almost magical to see it this way. There are definitely less tourists in the evening. If you swipe right you’ll see how crowded it got during the day. 🌺 🌺 I hadn’t planned to stay in Pisa overnight as we were going to sleep in Florence and spend the next day there. Instead, the next day not only did we get a chance to see more of Pisa (see my post before this one on the Tuttomondo mural), but Florence was just too crowded in the Summer for me to fully enjoy its beauty. Somehow this worked out for the best and I’m glad I spent more time in the beautiful city of Pisa. Swipe right and you’ll see pics during the evening and during the day. I also included a pic of us eating outside of a cute restaurant after a long day of travel! 🌺 🌺 I tend to plan as I go, so I guess you can call me a freestyle traveler. For #tbt I want to do a tribute to The Bahamas. Please donate if you can. Here in Florida there are many efforts to help and I’m sure you can find something locally, but if you can’t find a place to donate @thebahamiantraveler has a link in his bio to donate via HeadKnowles Emergency Fund and a post regarding the lost lives and missing people. 🌺 🌺 🌺 #HurricaneDorian is the strongest hurricane to hit The Bahamas and devastated Grand Bahama Island and Abaco Islands. In my lifetime I have never heard of a hurricane that hovered in one spot for over a day. My heart breaks for all who have lost loved ones, can’t find their loved ones and the terror that The Bahamians are going through. 🌺 🌺 🌺 Tourism dollars are so needed right now in The Bahamas. Just as nearby Florida was spared, so were the other islands including Nassau. We can still visit as a way to help their economy. 🌺 So in my first picture: a memory from a multi-family and #multigeneration trip we did to the Bahamas in 2010. I’m always the one with the “itinerary in my head” and I decided we weren’t going to take taxis to Paradise Island from the cruise port, but we were going to take the bus! Little did I know the bus stops way before the bridge to Paradise Island...at least at the time. The photos of Atlantis are ones I took on my old Blackberry as we walked across the Sir Sidney Poitier Bridge. It was almost 2 miles with our little ones and the whole family was pissed at me! 😆🤣🤣 🌺 🌺 🌺 If you scroll right to the 4th and 5th picture you’ll see pictures of our family getting ready to snorkel at Grand Bahama Island. You can see a bit of Port Lucaya behind my Mom in the 5th picture along with crystal clear water. 🌺 🌺 🌺 The 6th picture is my favorite spot on Grand Bahama Island. Billy Joe’s Restaurant and Bar. It’s right there on the beach at Port Lucaya! Seitan Limania Beach was a must visit for me when I was in Crete, Greece. I had a hard time finding a driver to get there, but then I met Loukas. If you got to this post via my story you will see that Loukas scared the crap outta me driving with no hands on the cliff to get to the beach. As soon as we get there I tell him I’m going down to swim and he says, “not with those shoes!” I had on flip flops (or what I grew up calling them in Hawaii, “Slippahs”). 🌺 🌺 🌺 He convinced me that my flip flop could easily break if I slip on a rock and I’d fall to my death! 🌺 🌺 🌺 I guess I have to learn to research remote areas before getting excited and just arriving in a sundress and flip flops! 🤷🏽‍♀️ 🌺 🌺 🌺 Seitan Limania is in a rocky cove, in Chania region of the Island of Crete in Greece. The driver told me that only locals once knew about Seitan Limania, but travelers like me are now starting to make the trek outside of town to get there. It’s breathtaking, can you blame a traveler? 𝑯𝒂𝒗𝒂𝒏𝒂 𝑶𝒐𝒉 𝑵𝒂-𝑵𝒂 🎶 🇨🇺 🌺 I have wanted to visit Havana, Cuba since President Obama opened it up, but it never happened during his term. I finally got my wish last weekend. My husband booked a trip to Havana for our 15 year Anniversary. The trip was absolutely amazing. The people are so warm, the colors from the old cars and the old buildings are a photographer’s dream. We were able to support the Cuban people by hiring someone to take photos of our first stroll the morning we arrived. Not only did we learn some of the history of La Habana, but we had an amazing time posing and acting crazy for pictures! After all these years I'm still crazy for Papi. 💗 🌺 🌺 🌺 Since HubbyStanks is #dominicano 🇩🇴 Spanish is his native language so it was easy to get around like the locals do, which is my favorite way to travel. I usually leave HubbyStanks home when I travel this way, but he really enjoyed seeing how I move when we’re not chilling at a luxury resort. I think he might want to tag along on my next adventure! 😳 Cuba is one of the safest places to travel so I already had a solo trip in mind. 😬 🌺 🌺 🌺 Scroll right to see a short video of some of the photos we took! I’ll do more of these in my stories. Cuba is a wonderful backdrop so I have many good photos from this trip. 🌺 🌺 My only regret is not getting to Cuba earlier. I’m ready to go back in the next few months. I love that it’s such a short flight. I just hope Trump doesn’t do any more to make it harder to get to the Island. The Cuban people have benefited from starting their own businesses in tourism and I want to support them as much as I can. ⁣ 🌱 🅷🅰🅿🅿🆈 🅴🅰🆁🆃🅷 🅳🅰🆈! 🌱 ⁣ ⁣ Costa Rica is an amazing place to hike. Leave it to me to get into some deep doo-doo (literally horse poop) 💩 on a hike to Chorreras Waterfall.⁣ ⁣ Swipe Left ⬅️⬅️⬅️ to see video of the 2 trails and photos of the waterfall!⁣ ⁣ On what should have been a quick hike to Chorreras Waterfall in the Rincon De La Vieja National Park somehow we ended up on the horse trail. The entire hike to the waterfall smelled like, you know what! @thefitnarquee kept saying “Are you sure we’re going the right way?” Of course I’m determined to chase waterfalls so I’m keeping my cool the whole time, but in my head wondering “why don’t I hear the waterfall?” 🤣🤣🤣 “why is it taking so long to get there!”⁣ ⁣ We get to the beautiful waterfall after about an hour longer that’s expected only to have the park ranger tell us there’s a walking trail for humans we could go back on!⁣ ⁣ I can’t count how many times in life been lost in a new city, town, or in nature. I always have that feeling that it’ll work out and I’ll find my way. IMO It’s the only way you make it out without losing it! ⁣ ⁣ ❓❓❓❓❓⁣ Have you ever been lost in a new place? I’m going to be candid and tell you I had no idea I was already looking at Rhine Falls when I first saw it. My excuse: When you grow up in Hawaii you look at how far the drop on a waterfall is! I had no idea that the width was and volume was a thing! Excuse my ignorance!! 🌺 We traveled from Germany to Rhinefall, Switzwerland. Which was our first Switzwerland stop. We wanted to see the largest waterfall in Europe! I tend to not look at pictures beforehand so I’m amazed when my eyes land on the attraction! 🌺 Nevertheless the sheer volume of water flowing from this 20 meter drop was impressive. Definitely beautiful! 🌺 Rhine Fall borders Germany and Switzerland. Photo Cred: 📸 @jonadrcissna La Grand Place in Brussels, Belgium is an architectural wonder. There are the main public buildings which happen to be the most photographed place in Brussels (I guess I’ll post that someday, but you can see it in many travel feeds), but also what appear to be private buildings like the one. I couldn’t help but notice this building even with all the hoopla going on in the square. I had to take a picture in front of it. The gold detail and different colored doors, and the lamp post all pulled me in. I’m assuming this is an apartment building, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it were something more historic. 🌺 🌺 🌺 At the Grote Markt and all over Brussels really you’ll find flowers everywhere. Brussels is known as Europe’s greenest capital. I don’t think I walked 10 feet without seeing flowers. The gold trim on this building and lamp post with flowers is so...instagramable. 😬 🌺 🌺 🌺 Swipe right and notice the actual Grand Place public building in my video...with what appears to be the K-Pop boy band BTS shooting a practice dance video. Happy Birthday to this German Beauty, Kim! 🌺 🌺 🌺 I met Kim on the first day of a Weeklong Spanish Immersion class my Mom and I decided to take last minute in Barcelona, Spain. Every day of that week after class Kim, my Mom and I would explore the streets and beaches of Barcelona together. We discussed who we were at home, but without the distractions of everyday life. We got to know each other in the moment. 🌺 Who you are when traveling is your true self and maybe even your best self. 🌺 The very last day of our stay in Barcelona I was feeling under the weather and couldn’t attend a last day at Barcenoleta beach that Kim and I planned. My Mother and I had to drive back to Landstuhl, Germany to pick up my cousin who was anxiously waiting to rejoin our European Adventure Trip before going to Paris. So we left very early and Kim also had a flight back to Berlin later that day. I didn’t get to say a proper goodbye to my dear friend.😔 🌺 🌺 In a way I’m okay with us not saying goodbye face to face. Not knowing when or if I’ll ever see someone again doesn’t sit well with me and I would have embarrassingly balled my eyes out. I consider Kim a true friend who I love. I missed going to Berlin while in Germany, but now I have a longing to go to see Berlin where Kim lives. I would hope that when she comes to the US that she would come visit me as well. 🌺 🌺 I loved Barcelona so much and meeting Kim was one of the highlights of my entire European trip. I miss this girl! 😢 🌺 🌺 Kim, I hope you have a wonderful Birthday. Your outlook on life is beautiful and you will do great things. Make your memories count. Can you believe the Eiffel Tower was never meant to be a permanent building? It was built for the 1889 Paris Exposition. The original plans were to take it down after 20 years. Who even dreams of Paris today without a vision of the Eiffel Tower? Good thing this tower was repurposed as a radio antenna! 𝐌𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐧, 𝐈𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐲 ~⁣ ⁣ When traveling Europe my first stop in Italy driving in from Switzerland was Milan. Milan is a beautiful metropolis filled with models! it’s one of the big four fashion capitals of the world. Of all the places I visited in Italy Milano was the most like New York City. The Italians in Milan in comparison to the rest of Northern Italy reminded me of New York Italian-Americans. The beauty of Milan for me, like NYC is that there is a mix of modern and historic architecture. ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ 𝐃𝐮𝐨𝐦𝐨 𝐝𝐢 𝐌𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐨 ~⁣ ⁣ The Milan Cathedral is an achitectural wonder that took six centuries to complete. It's the largest Gothic Cathedral in the world & 2nd largest Catholic Cathedral. ⁣ ⁣ In the Summer it is quite crowded and it’s tough not to get a pigeon (and people) in your photo as you can see! ⁣ ⁣ Have you been to Milan? At the start of my Euro Trip my Mother and I flew into Frankfurt, Germany and went to where my cousin @jonadrcissna currently lives in a tiny village called Bann. Her husband is stationed at Ramstein AFB. Landstuhl, in the district of Kaiserslautern in Rhineland-Palatinate is in Southwest Germany about an hour outside of Frankfurt. The Burg Nanstein castle is located there. Nanstein, said to be built in 1162 is one of the best known castles of the Palatinate. The siege of Nanstein in 1523 was a visible symbol and final point in the decline of castles and the feudal system in the Palatinate. As we toured Europe we saw many castles and ruins. I was amazed at how these castles were still standing and not overtaken by modern buildings and parking lots. Instead the land around them seem to remain in its natural state.
